Endometriosis Program

Endometriosis is estimated to affect 10% of reproductive-age women and defined as the presence of endometrium-like (inner lining tissue of the uterus) outside of the uterus. Sometimes these tissue implants can be observed in the muscular layer of the uterus and is called ‘adenomyosis’.

Endometriosis is mostly asymptomatic disease but also associated with infertility, pelvic pain (dysmenorrhea, dyspareunia, dysuria, dyskinesia or chronic pelvic pain) and cysts in the ovaries. The severity of symptoms (especially pain) are not related to the extent of the disease; even minimal amount of disease may result in excruciating cyclic pain. The diagnosis and treatment plan require a dedicated teamwork, experienced and multidisciplinary approach.

We are the most experienced center for treatment of ‘deep infiltrating endometriosis’. This type of endometriosis may be devastating in terms of pain that interferes daily life and normal functioning of the affected women. Our Endometriosis Program at Koç Healthcare provides true radiological diagnosis/mapping of the disease and then medical and surgical treatment for endometriosis patients.

We offer the most advanced surgical options available for treating endometriosis cases, that include laparoscopy, robotics, bowel and bladder surgery.

After surgical treatment, our patients are followed up in predetermined time periods. We know that this disease can cause lifelong problems for our patients and with this responsibility we support them with our multidisciplinary and experienced team. Our mindfulness (yoga, breathing exercises etc.) team also help our patients during recovery period.
