Patients & Visitors International Patient Services Day of Admission

Day of Admission

Welcome to Koç Healthcare Institutions!

For Admission procedures to take place we recommend that you bring the following documents:

  • Passport
  • Medical records or documents
  • Private insurance card and Hospitalization insurance form with physician’s approval

Nurse Assessment

One of our nurses will be meeting with you to complete a comprehensive and through assessment of your medical history. The information collected will be entered into our electronic system which will be accessible to your physician. She will also explain your preoperative instructions (bowel prep, fasting guidelines, and pre-op medications), take your blood pressure and temperature.

Bloodwork & ECG

A lab technician will draw blood samples ordered by your doctor, and possibly take an electrocardiogram (ECG). A second blood sample may be required depending on the type of surgery you will be having. You will be informed by your lab technician if this will happen.

Chest X-Ray

Your doctor may have ordered a chest x-ray as part of your admission process. We will inform if this this needed.

Anesthesiologist

Depending on your medical history/operation, you may be required to see the anesthesiologist. The anesthesiologist’s assessment involves discussing your medical history, reviewing any medications you are currently taking, as well as going over pain management, airway assessment, and the type of anesthetic best suited for you. Please note, the anesthesiologist you will meet is not guaranteed to be the same anesthesiologist for your operation.

*Approximately 45-90 minutes

* Please note this assessment can be longer or shorter, depending on medical history, assistance of a language interpreter, etc.

Clinical Coordinators

Our excellent clinical coordinators are also available to assist you in addressing any concerns you may have regarding your surgery. Your surgeon may have requested a consult with them ahead of time, or you’re nurse may call them to come and meet with you if necessary.

We hope this information has been helpful in explaining the details of your admission appointment. Please feel free to ask us questions, as we are more than happy to help you during this important journey!
