Nefise Barlas Ulusoy M.D.

Professor of Gastroenterology and Hepatology

Dr. Nefise Barlas Ulusoy received her MD degree from the University of Istanbul in 1973 and was trained in Internal Medicine at the Genesee Hospital, University of Rochester, N.Y. between the years ’73 - ’77. She was a fellow in Gastroenterology at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor in the years ’77 - ’79. Thereafter, Dr. Ulusoy worked as a clinical associate doing bench and clinical research at the Digestive Diseases Branch of National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland for two years. She received her board certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine and Board of Gastroenterology. In 1986 Dr. Ulusoy was appointed as associate professor in the Department of Internal Medicine, University of Marmara School of Medicine, Istanbul. In 1989 she was entitled professor in the same institution and worked as the Head of the Division of Gastroenterology till 2000. She was awarded the 1999 Scientific Achievement Award from the Turkish Medical Association of Istanbul. Dr. Ulusoy has been working in the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the American Hospital in Istanbul since the year 2000.
